Fantasy Football

Hey all. It is about midseason so I felt like I would open up a forum for some of us "experts" to answer questions. I will start off by asking, after 7 weeks, is it finally time to admit Cedric Benson is a legitimate #1 fantasy back? I find it so hard to accept this, but I was offered him in a trade in another league that I am seriously considering.

I had considered Cedric Benson atleast a 2nd to low-end #1 running back before the season even started. I based it off of the evidence on how he finished the season last year.

He led the NFL, I believe in rushing for the last 6 weeks of the season. The Bengals line was not that terrific last season, yet he still produced. After seeing how the bengals improved their line with game action for their younger guys, and what seemed like a very motivated Cedric Benson heading into the offseason, I thought he would have a break out season.

I did not believe it would have been to the degree he has been performing thus far, which is why I traded him to K-fed after the 2nd week of the season, figuring he had peaked. It seems I was wrong, and that was only the beginning...to make a long story short, as it stands right now, I have Cedric Benson as a top 5 Running back right now ahead of the likes of Matt Forte, Brian Westbrook, Frank Gore, and yes; even RUSH-HARD Mendenhall. Depending on what you are giving up, I'd say take it.

I have 3 top receivers, L-Fitz, DeSean Jackson, and Welker in a 2 WR format with no flex and no PPR. So, after this week, none of them have byes. I could play matchups all year, but my RBs are Chris Johnson (no TDs), Clinton Portis (sucks), Pierre Thomas (losing a lot of touches to Bell), and McFadden (hurt, and even healthy sucks). I am convinced, of the 3, Welker will have the best season in the end, so I'm clinging to him. Fitzgerald would be next, then Jackson. From the league I have been offered either Benson, Ronnie Brown, Jacobs, or Thomas Jones for Fitzgerald, maybe Jackson. So by your logic, Benson would be the best back to go with, right?

yes...I would have to say that benson would be the best of that lot. 2 of the running backs you named are sharing touches. And thomas jones' good season is really coming from 2 phenomenal games. Brandon Jacobs isnt even the best producing fantasy back on his team, and ronnie brown is sharing touches with ricky williams who is producing very well.

Out of your receivers for trade...I would try to trade desean jackson and then welker. You said it isnt a PPR league. If it were, welker would be the best player on your team. Yes, he has had a very nice season so far, but as the season progresses he is going to go back to his slot position and catch his 12 balls for 90 yards and no TDs. Desean has the better chance at more points with his deep threat and returning capabilities...in my opinion.

what does PPR mean? i am obviously new to fantasy football. does that mean points per reception?

Yes.

I think Welker will catch tds still. Brady loves him on the goal line when they are within like 5 yards or so. They run short slants or other patterns where he can weasel between people. Moss will still catch bombs, but Welker is the best red zone option. The other bonus for Jackson is that we get points for return td's as well, but I just got reject with Jackson for either Brown or Jones.
