An Interesting Development...
So apparently the Pirates are "pushing hard" to trade steady Freddie. I'm fine with it, since they are dumping everyone anyway, but here is my question - if they trade Sanchez before the All-Star break, that means technically the Pirates have no one playing in the game. So what then? Does someone get cut and a new Pirate gets added? I for one would be pissed if we didn't have a representative...then again..who would they take? Andy LaRoche? Not...

They talked about that on the radio, if he gets traded to the NL, the roster will not change, and the guess is that the Pirates will lose representation (someone really made a good point, what if he gets traded, but does not play a game yet for the other team?)
If he goes to the AL, there would be a roster spot open (does he get to play on the AL team, and they have a larger roster?), does MLB take another Pirate???
I would make the trade if I were N.H., just to see what would happen.
Haha yea. The Pirates are pretty much laughable at this point, and when they make a trade it's funny to read and hear all the fans and players going crazy. I could care less at this point...I still feel like if they had shelled out the money to keep Bay, Nady (who may not have gotten hurt because he would be on a different timeline), and McLouth, with a healthy Doumit, they could compete with any NL offense in the league. But, of course they didn't, so who cares at this point.
But then we would be talking about how the pitchers are terrible cuz that outfield would be giving up more runs. It's an odd trade off.
Someday, the outfield of Cutch, Tabata, and my BOY GORKYS, will be remembered as the greatest outfield of all time. screw Bonds, Van Slyke, Bonilla. They will have nothing on that trio.
That is sarcasm by the way (Ryan might think I am serious.)
Hopefully they can trade for Ambiorix Concepcion and really shore things up.
I think I'd be ok with the pirates trading freddy. He's aging, he's got maybe another 2 or 3 good years left in him, and the way he's hitting it seems he's back into his old form, which would call for him to ask for more money when his current contract runs out-something the pirates won't be able to afford. Now more than ever Freddy's value is where it needs to be for the pirates to improve for the future.
As far as the Pirates having any identity behind any tenured player, it should be noted that no player wants to be the identity of a consistently losing team. The pirates should deal Freddy and Jack flash and make the identity of the franchise an Andrew McCutchen or Ryan Doumit. Players that are showing flashes of baseball diamond brilliance and at the same time even better potential for a long lasting effective career. Ball players he Pirates have contractual rights over for the next handful of years; Players the pirates need to continue to affiliate themselves.
Wait, Ryan, am I reading that right? Are you just being sarcastic? Is this some kind of joke. So you don't think Sosa or Griffey is what we need to get butts in the seats anymore? I am just messin' with ya man.
Offord, AMBIORIX CONCEPCION will be a future HOF'er. He will surpass his "father" in every aspect. Maybe I will write a human interest story about Ambiorix, or start following him once a week on this blog. We could get some weird traffic from it I bet.
